Update: Saturday 10pm

Its been a banner day.!! Sam is going to think it's a poor substitute for missing out on tonights Fort Myers High Homecoming ball but we are pleased. After 5 days prone on his back he has been flipped over to lie face down for a while. We were all afraid the move would be too traumatic for him but it all went very well and has allow his poor damaged lungs to drain better and open up airways that were previously compressed. Nett result has his oxygen uptake improved enough that the volumes pumped in via the ventilator have been reduced (from 60% t0 50% oxygen) and the pressure on the problematic airpocket reduced. He seems more comfortable too and we have backed off just a little bit more on the epinephrine. There was no significant change on the X-rays this morning but everyone continues to assert that his lungs sound a little clearer.

Hi Y'all, Have just started a night duty, thought I'd check in on the latest update, WOW!!! I have never seen SOOO many IV sets & monitors!!, thank god for techno;ogy eh!. Glad to hear Sam is enjoying life flipped off his back, good chance for a massage !!
Jono and Rach have just finished a 2 week holiday, off to school tomorrow. I took them down to Rotorua, where we rode the 'luge', swung on a 60ft high giant swing, & exprienced weightlessness, all very cool. Then drove further down & had a great catch up with Simon, so its been great. Are you into extreme rides Sam?? Get well & you're up for a promise ( if you're parents let you scare them again!!)You are such a fighter, its all sounding really positive, keep strong, go hard. Love from across the ocean xxxx

Dear Graham and Cam,

We are surrounding Sam with lots of love, light, and healing energy to "supercharge" him for all the catching up he's going to have to do, since he decided to take a sabbatical!

Lord, look upon Sam with eyes of mercy, may your healing hand rest upon him, may your life giving powers flow into every cell of his young body and into the depths of his soul, cleansing, purifying, restoring him to wholeness and strength for service in your Kingdom.

Amen.

O God who are the only source of health and healing, the spirit of calm and the central peace of this universe, grant to Sam such a consciousness of your indwelling and surrounding presence that he may permit You to give to Him health and strength and peace, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Hi Sam and all of you Kortegasts. Things sounds like they are looking up a bit. We are very thankful for that. We know what a terrible and frightening time this is for all of you. Sam...you are the man..and by your being so strong and brave trough all of this you are helping your family to do the same. You are quite a fellow, indeed. We continue to pray that each day will bring some improvement and look forward to talking with you soon. Just stay strong, hang tough and think good thoughts. (I know us Capricorns are a lot stronger than people think we are!). We love you all so much. Aunt Marsha and the madison connection PS. Can't wait till you can help me with this computer stuff---this is my 4th attempt to send you a message today. Hope this goes through.
