Sam has amazed all the Doctors and staff here.....Is this DUDE for real??? The third Doc continues to push Sam. He has taken him off breathing support and forced him to breath on his own.....first with some back up and now dialed down to No back up......(support kicks in only if he stops breathing). So far so good, the back up has not had to kick in. They are preparing him to take the breathing tube out at 11 am tomorrow.
Preparation involves taking him off food before the tube comes out, cuz he'll cough and maybe vomit YUK. I'm sure he won't mind that, as having that darn tube down your wind pipe hurts and is definitely a drag. He should be able to talk to us too.....and I know how frustrated he has been trying to communicate with us and the staff. He currently communicates by spelling what he needs as we ask each letter in the words (he nods yes or no to each letter). He is too weak to write.
Highlights for the day: Sam and Mom get to watch a video and wash his hair (not at the same time)!! Sam likes that. The nurses are asking me if Sam colors his hair because it is so beautiful........and now that they are open, they can't stop talking about his eyes.
We anxiously await 11am tomorrow.......KEEP ON TRUCKING SAM!!!

Just got back home from Michigan---we worked hard, but it was a nice trip. The first thing I did was to check on how you're doing, Sam and Iam absolutely delighted. Iam soooooooo happy and thankful that you are doing so well. (But being a Capricorn
-like you- and a believer and woman of faith I knew that things would improve in time--God delivers). It sounds like you have a good staff of doctors and nurses in your corner--not to mention the wonderful family you have that loves you so much. But.....so much of the credit goes to you...Sam--the man! You have been strong and corageous and a real fighter all the way. There's still a way to go, so hang in there and persevere our fine , young nephew. You are the bomb--you rock!!!!!!! We love you all and keep you in our thoughts and prayers always. wow sam youre really getting better! it must have been nice to wash your hair and get to watch a movie. Seems like we both had a good day. Today after school Ian took me and Justin shopping. I got a new pair of basket ball shoes because i am going to join the REC team this year. Also I got a new jacket and Ian gave me some pointers on what to were. I am pretty satisfied. Justin got some clothes for his homecoming dance too,(they matched his girlfriend's of course!) Oh and me and Justin don't have school tomorrow wich I am happy about.

DUDE! SAM YOUR AMAZING! things are really getting better, and that's awesome. wait till your strong enough to read all this family love on this blog. your strong sam and your family is there for you. and the song im working on is coming along.. but im no poet so idk about lyrics n' what not. its good to know things are working out, cant wait to hear more good news

Way to go Sam! You are amazing us all as you gain back your strength and begin breathing on your own. Now the next big step- regaining your voice. yahooooo!!! It's just so wonderful hearing the progress! Way to go SAM!! I am so impressed with your strength and stamina,as your other aunty says, such alot we take for granted, but you have made us all appreciate the little miracles of life, like talking for instance!!
