Sam had a bad night last night. X-rays are showing slightly more lung congestion. This could be due to infection but is more likely just the spread of sam's own immune system fighting back and also some build up of fluids and mucuous in the lungs.
To compensate the ventilator pressure has been stepped up and oxygen increased to try to bring his blood gases levels (SpO2) back to normal. (normal is 96-100, bad is 91-95, critical is below 90). Sam began the day at 91 and it has built slowly to currently stand at 95. This is good but still not good enough to back off on the high pressures the ventilator is set at.
All the lab results back so far have been unable to identify the cause of the pneumonia...this may be good as it might mean that by the time the samples were taken the antibiotics had already gone to work and that sam now is just going through the massive reaction his own body has had to infection...In anycase he remains on 4 of the strongest antibiotics available.

Hello Sam: You have such awesome green eyes, reson i mention is due to the fact that your aunt pam pointed out the obvious to me.. i know are a much better guitarist than this summer; I know because I watched how quick you are when I tried to teach you cant wait to jam with you again. I just want to tell you that you are one of my cousins that mean the most to me if not the most. I know that we will play great music together in the future. So, hang in there, I miss you and I am writing a new song that i want to give you to help you get better sooner. power of music ya' kno? Love, Justin
Hey Sam, its Daniel from MN. Just checking in on how your doing. I know i haven't seen you in a while, so I dont really know what your up to. Hope you get better.
Hey Sam...I think I have figured out how to do this blog stuff. I had good reason to learn because I want to send you a greeting each day until we can actually talk to each other. I hope and pray that each minute you are gaining strength. This is such a bummer time for everyone--especially you right now. I have faith that things will take a turn for the better very soon. You just rest and think good thoughts and remember.we love you very much. You are a fantastic nephew---Sam the man---as I've always called you. You and your whole family are in out thoughts and prayers and we love you all very, very much. Aunt Marsha, Uncle Jake, JR, Hope, Shawna, Kayvion, and Kamarion
Am's, Kath and Marne: News is very optimistic. Sam you are persisting in giving it your ALL in the present, to build the strength you need for the future. You are constantly in our thoughts. Like Sara (whom we have not met but have heard lots of good things about) we were amazed to see the equipment hook-up...it looks like an ergonomic nightmare for the doctors and nurses. But whatever it takes- because you are every bit worth it and 100 fold more. (by the way, our boys want to go with you to New Zealand, for the swing ride across the water) Are you up for that? Love, Flynns
hey sam we all hope your doing better. we care for you and you NEED to get better so that we can go to the gym, and play basketball. its just not the same without you here. the square is not complete without you here. we all miss you and i (Max) know your going to recover fully. we hope for the best, and we miss you.
